Six of the children had lead poisoning with blood lead levels of 4 mcg/dL to 14.5 mcg/dL. The Centers for Disease Control, the National Institute of Health and every major medical organization in the United States has made clear that "there is not safe blood lead level." That means that any positive blood lead level is unsafe for children. Positive blood lead levels can cause cognitive, neurological and physiological deficits including reduced IQ, ADHD, loss of executive function (the ability to multi-task) and delayed puberty. Lead based paint is extremely dangerous to young children. If you live in housing built prior to 1978, the law presumes that the paint in the house is lead based paint. Make sure there is no peeling or deteriorated paint in your house. If your children tests positive for lead based paint, call us. We are California's preeminent lead poisoning law firm.
